Welcome to the Sixth Form
Life in the Sixth Form is very different to Year 11. The first thing you will notice is that your relationships with teachers will change. As students, you will work in partnership with them to achieve your goals and reach your potential. Class sizes are small and you will be treated as an individual where you are both supported and challenged to develop intellectually and achieve at the highest level.
You will be encouraged to work in teams and practice leadership skills. There are a huge number of activities on offer which enable you to do this: The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Young Enterprise, The Mock Trial Competition, Model United Nations as well as numerous sporting, musical and community activities are all on offer. In fact, your main challenge will be fitting it all in.
As Sixth Formers, you will enjoy considerable freedom and privileges. You can go out of school at lunchtime and go home early if you have a study period at the end of the day. You will have free time during the day and have open access to the Sixth Form common rooms. With greater freedom comes responsibility. As leaders of our school, sixth formers are role models to younger girls and act as Head Girls, Prefects, lead the House system and run Student Council.
Most of the girls in Year 11 choose to stay on into the Sixth Form, and we also welcome girls into the Sixth Form from other schools. Girls from other schools are given a very warm welcome, make friends easily and settle very quickly into the broader life of the Sixth Form.
We pride ourselves on the high level of individual care and support we give to every student, particularly in making career choices, completing UCAS applications and preparing for interviews. Girls leave the Sixth Form well-equipped and excited for the future that lies ahead of them.
