Senior School Curriculum

We operate a two week timetable of 60 periods.

Each day has six sessions with two periods before break, two periods between break and lunch and two periods after lunch.

Key Stage 3

The lists of compulsory subjects and modern language options for Key Stage 3 are shown below. Year 7 girls study all of the language options for a term each, then in Year 8 they are asked to select one of these options to continue studying in Years 8 and 9.

Key Stage 4

During Key Stage 4, students study compulsory GCSE subjects, optional GCSE subjects and non examination subjects.

Compulsory GCSE Subjects

  • English Language
  • English Literature
  • Mathematics
  • Either 3 separate Sciences or Dual Award Science
  • A Modern Foreign Language (French, German or Spanish)
  • Religious Studies (Short Course or Full Course)
  • Information Technology (Short Course)

Optional GCSE Subjects

Dependent upon their choice of sciences, either 2 or 3 subjects are chosen from the list below:

  • Art
  • Business Studies
  • Design Technology
  • Drama
  • Food Technology
  • Geography
  • History
  • Latin
  • Music
  • Physical Education

Compulsory Non Examination Subjects

  • Physical Education
  • Preparation for Adult Life
