History
Alderley Edge School for Girls was founded in September 1999 from the successful merger of two schools which had been long established in the village - Mount Carmel and St Hilary's.
The Sisters of St Joseph founded Mount Carmel School in 1945 and St Hilary's School was founded in 1876 and became part of the Woodard Corporation in 1955.

The school is unique in the independent sector in combining the Catholic traditions of the Order of St Joseph and the Anglican heritage of the Woodard Corporation. Both religious traditions are taught in co-operation with the respective diocesan authorities but all other faiths are warmly welcomed.
The origins of the school are deeply rooted in tradition but the educational experience on offer is an interesting blend of tradition and innovation. An open mind; the ability to think independently; the desire to learn; care and concern for others; young people who are interesting and interested in the world around them; preparation for academic success and happy fulfilled lives - AESG offers a first class education.
This special blending of traditional values and innovation is central to our vision.
