Parents and Friends Association

Introducing the PFA

The Parents and Friends Association, in conjunction with the staff, aims to enhance both the educational and social development of pupils throughout the whole school. We do this by providing additional resources to support all aspects of the school curriculum.

What we do

We raise a substantial sum of money each year by organising a wide range of fund-raising activities. Our Christmas Fair, Quiz Night and Spring Ball are a few of the popular events designed to bring parents and friends together raising money in an enjoyable social setting.

All money raised each year by the PFA is spent on funding activities and resources. We recently funded a “Fun Day” which involved the girls taking part in a variety of activities including an inflatable assault course, a climbing wall and a circus skills workshop. We have provided a PA system for the Music department and funded many more worthwhile and beneficial resources.

We run a very successful “500 club”. Three draws take place each year giving participants the opportunity to win a substantial cash prize – and all for only £12 per year!

Finally we run the school’s second hand uniform shop. We sell school uniform items on behalf of the parents, and a percentage of the revenue goes to PFA funds. The shop can be found off the junior school courtyard and opens on the last Thursday of each month during term time.

How we are organised

Each school year is represented on the PFA committee by one or more parents. As well as taking part in the fund-raising activities and organising activities for the school as a whole, they also arrange various social activities for the parents in their year group. Helping new parents to find their feet is also a key concern, and we operate a “Buddy” system to enable new parents to become quickly assimilated into the life of the school.

On behalf of all parents, we would like to extend a very warm welcome to you.

All forthcoming events are posted well in advance in the weekly Junior and Senior School bulletins.

Finally, do please contact either of us - or your class representative - if you would like to be personally involved in the PFA.
