Nursery
Alderley Edge School Nursery has been welcoming boys as well as girls since September 2008.
Our Nursery provides a happy, secure environment within which a carefully structured curriculum encourages a positive attitude to learning through rich and stimulating experiences.
In a caring atmosphere, our children gain confidence to participate in both group and individual activities and develop good concentration and perseverance.
The children's personal independence and ability to take initiative are actively encouraged. We establish an ethos in which individual achievements are valued.
Accommodation
Our Nursery is housed in a bright and stimulating environment linking with Reception and an area is dedicated to the encouragement of creative, social and investigative skills.
We have a carpeted area in which ‘circle time’ takes place, actively encouraging and developing children's self esteem, listening and concentration skills; and tables at which more formal mathematics and language and literacy activities are enjoyed.
There is a soft play area, a home corner, climbing frame and thematic role play area providing for extensive and much enjoyed imaginary play and the development of physical, social and communication skills.
The children have access to our own secure, outdoor play area with a colourful and sturdy climbing frame. The outdoors is an integral part of our provision throughout the year.
Our varied resources allow the opportunity for play and fun learning across the foundation curriculum, whatever the weather.
Activities
Children in the Nursery enjoy timetabled activities such as Physical Education and Music and Movement, using the excellent facilities in the school, and regularly enjoy the delights that the ‘secret garden’, our joint Environmental Area, has to offer.
During the year the children extend their knowledge and understanding of the world, enjoying a local woodland walk and an annual trip to Chester Zoo to join the nationally organised Barnardo's Toddle.
